New guy with a question

I was wondering what the little black plastic box is in the tube running from the air intake to the IAC valve?

It has no effect on the idle, it's a silencer box so you don't get a squealing sound when it's idling. I took mine off and replaced it with a 3/4 inch heater hose and I have not had any issues.
