UPR Coil Over's with Strange Struts, maybe have to modify C/O sleeve?
Alright i have my UPR K-Member kit and 14" 150LB springs and Strange struts to put in soon. I have a question about the C/O sleeves fitting the Strange struts. In the pictures the sleeve is only touching the strut on the bottom only about 1/2 of an inch. Is this normal or should i cut a small section out of the bottom of the sleeve so it fits down over the raised part of the strut so then the whole bottom of the sleeve will be touching the strut and be evenly dispersing the weight around the sleeve instead of just that 1/2in piece. Should i cut it or is that normal? Seems like if its not cut out it will bend the sleeve where all the weight it on that small piece of the sleeve. Any input?
![]() ![]() ![]() Also i have the 3 bolt CC shark plates from UPR, will these have enough adjustment to get my alignment back straight or should i swap them out for some 4 bolt plates? I have not used the 3 bolt CC plates yet, there still in the box.

My MMR coilover kit had a notch alrady cut out for that. So I would notch it so it slides down all of the way. I have teh MM 4 bolt CC plates. Ive never used 3 bolt ones. Im sure you could get enough adjustment.

See how the 3 bolts just slide one way and to move it the other way you cant just slide it, you have to move it down to the next bolt hole where as the 4 bolts can slide in a "T" direction.

I've been told by multiple suspension techs that you need 4 bolt CC plates to distribute the weight of the vehicle properly for new edge mustangs when running CO's. The triangulation of the 3 bolt plates causes the weight to only be distributed to the 2 outside bolts only. I would highly recommend a good set of 4 bolt CC's.

it should already have a notch. thats weird. mine did.
and i don't like my 150's...way to soft. had to raise it up really high to keep the spring from bangin around. weird thing is bullit5539 has the same setup and his doesn't do that. anyway, i'm switching to the 12 250's. and in my personal opinion you'll be perfectly fine with the 3 bolt plates. jeremy from upr has plenty of people running that setup. and mine are workin just fine.. that being said, the four bolt plates sure won't hurt

It also probably depends on how much stress your putting on them. I'm running 275/12's up front and autocross so the stronger I could make my strut tower, the better. I'm going up to 325's when I switch to a torque arm. There is a big difference in fox cc's vs New edge cc's. Picture a triangle made by the 3 bolts on the plate. On a fox, the strut pertrudes up within that triangle, distributing the weight into all three bolts. On a new edge, the strut pertrusion lies outside this triangle, causing uneven weight loads. This is why the new edge mustangs require 4 bolt plates for CC's. The strut is enclosed by the bolts and stabilizes load distribution. |
