Dry/Rough Shifting

Alright here is the back story. Car had nearly 80K miles on it so I wanted to change the transmission oil. Was going to do the whole Pennzoil synchromesh and some lucas. However the store was sold out of synchromesh and no one was in stock around town. So popped over to the dealer and they sold me mercon V.
Shifting was great for the first month but it just continued to get worse after that. It’s not smooth at all now. I can feel the gears when pushing in the shifter and at times have to double clutch just to get the transmission in gear. Fluid level is good and the situation does slightly improve as the car warms up but not much better.
My plan is to drain the mercon V and find some synchromesh. Or is this a waist of cash and time? Thanks for the advice.

Well, mercon V and synchromesh are both very good. I wouldn't believe it to be the mercon v that causes the issue since there are plenty of guys here that use it. The 3650 is naturally a little notchy, but it could be a couple things that cause it to shift roughly. Has the shifting feel changed dramatically after that first month all at once or just slightly/ gotten worse over time?

It was great after I did the change. Then as the weather cooled down it got harder and harder every week to put it in gear. So I knocked it up to cold fluid since it got a little better when the tranny warmed up I would have to say steadily worse over time but it seems to have hit a plato and not getting any worse.

Did some more research last night and started to lean towards quadrant because I get noise some my pedal time to time. Adjusted it this morning and was a slight improvement. *have stock plastic quadrant
