Went to the track! help me out please :)
So I finally took the car to the track
My mods are a vortech v1 that makes 7.5-8 pounds of boost at sea level but only about 5 pounds even at this high elevation (4700 feet) CMS stage 1 na cams with stock springs. 75mm TB and plenum meth injection and flows. Tires and suspension are 555r's 305/35/18's with all stock suspension minus steeda sport springs. At the high eleveation with 27mph winds and 30% humidity and temps about 50-55 degrees I think my best was 14.032 at 104.91 mph. I can tell the elevation had a huge efect because last time at the track with horrible traction on stock tires I was around 110-112 mph on a bad tune with an afr of like 10.2 lol. Now the car is completely dyno tuned (was done at Dallas at pretty much sea level I guess) and numbers are in sig.Now my question...After like 3 passes I mastered doing my burnout and getting the tires nice and sticky. Out of about 20 passes (wasn't a busy day) I missed 2nd once and was very consistent with my times minus taking passengers along on 6 runs but didn't effect me much. My problem was when the tires were nice and hot I would bog horrible on launch because of how well the tires gripped. This was at tire pressures between 20-22 psi. I didn't go any lower as it seemed it wasn't a good move if I was already bogging. I have a 2 step programmed in my tune at like 3k rpm. So I couldn't launch any harder than that and was forced to deal with the bogging! What should I do? Should I try and get someone to change the 2step in my sniper tune to a higher rpm? What rpm would be good? Or should I leave it alone and move to 3.73 gears? I honestly think the gears will help a ton. The car really lacks low end power using these cams with stock gears. Any advice would be great.

Yeah lol. My 60 ft times were around 2.3-2.4. And there was no spinning or any drama... the bogging just ruined the launch entirely!

i'd say get it retuned if you're gonna be at the higher elevation for an extended period of time.

fix those gears man!
i used a quick elevation calculator and it still only translated to a 13.5 @ 108 which it should still be wayyyy better than that. high elevation tracks are just like mustang dyno's, heart breakers lol.

Def. the gears I have a similar setup and my best was 13.6. Im considering 31 spline dif, axles, 373's and uca's and hoping to go alot faster in the spring

I had to put on meth injection to keep IAT down. It was insane on a warm day not running it. The car was tuned with the meth by my tuner as well. I have no FMIC.

i agree with everyone so far. get some gears, launch that bad boy around 4500-5000 and you will see a good difference.

Awesome gears it is...wish I could afford a new 31 spline diff! And as far as traction control it's disabled in my tune. Trying to decide if lower control arms are really needed at this stage in the game. I may wait and see how she launches at 4500 or so rpm.

I would get torque box reinforcer's ($50 for upper and lowers off E-Bay), build the rear with 3.73's THEN launch at about 4,500-5,500 RPM's

Get rid of the 2 step. I don't know what the reasoning is for setting it a 3k. I've seen this on another car before too where it was set at 3k. If you're doing gears you're better off building the rearend at the same time. With 375rwhp a launch on a 18" rim a low profile drag radial that will hook is almost gauranteed to snap an axle. Do the lower control arms at the same time. I also have Steeda Sport Springs with MM HD lower control arms, and FRPP uppers. Ran a 1.77 60ft N/A on BFG drag radials. Haven't ran it with the blower yet.

Don't have a msd 2 step. Was just in my tune. Sorry baker
Good idea on looking for the explorer rear end. I may talk to you when I get some cash and make sure I am buying the right thing. What exactly do I need rear end wise to make sure I don't snap an axle 100 miles from home? I plan to run 18's with DRs for a while and buy drag stars or something down the road.
