Clutch Cable Broke during rush hour :'(
well i have a steeda clutch cable with the steeda quadrant and firewall adjuster.. so im on my way to autozone to buy an oem clutch cable and im in the turning lane, then my clutch just falls in and i cant put the car into gear.... i put my flashers on and people still get behind me and get all upset and honk there horn and stuff when i dont move.... (one lady did it and i got out of my car and walked up to her car and she got really scared, i just asked politely if she would help me move my car, the bitch just left me)
so whatever finally the autozone people got to help me move my car... well when i pull the clutch cable at the firewall it just all comes out. they cant get one in till 3 days, so i call around and found one at advance auto parts. it was $89 but i got it price matched from atuo zone for $59 he says its OEM but idk because it looks like it has an adjuster and it came with a quadrant... would this be a good clutch cable... not sure quite what to do, but i ended up buying it. Yikes. I have the steeda one too, I hope I don't have this problem, how did you know it was going? Did you feel/ hear something and knew you needed to get a new one?

no prob, let me know the outcome and if there are any more problems just hit me up and i'll help you walk through it some more. since i never heard of a zoom cable, they might be really long and will have to use the #1 fork. but start with what i said the first time and see how it goes.

when i ran my clutch cable a ran it through the k-member motor mount brace where the steering shaft meets the steering rack. keeps the cable out of the way of things.

Okay so I did some test drives and here are the results, at first it kind of felt like I had lost power but not so much after driving it 20 miles, the clutch is so easy to push in, before it took a lot of effort, after driving it some if got a little harder, or I got a little more used to it... Idk lol, the only complaint I have is that the engagement point to a little to high for my liking, when I adjusted it at the transmission I had to take off the nuts to put it on the clutch fork, and I screwed it on pretty good and as far as I could by hand, no tool I had would fit over the nut and still beable to get past the clutch fork, I'll have to use a crow bar with a friend another day, but I should have those two nuts tapers the middle right, since it seems like the engagement point is higher on the clutch and the nuts are closer to the end of the clutch cable?
Sorry if this makes no since but I'm on my phone right now so its hard to type and read everything I'm writing. |
