what hook for the steeda quadrant

im intalling a new clutch cable since my other one is demolished, and i had to buy a zoom one since i needed it now, and couldnt wait a week. and it was cheap, ill buy a MM one or OEM one in about 6 months, okay now for the question.

i have a double hook quadrant, which hook do i put the cable on for an adjustable cable. the hook that is farther away, or closer to me.

and for the transmission part do i just adjust the screw and the lock nut in the middle right?

The answer to both questions is "whatever fits and operates the clutch properly", there is no definitive answer.

When you get done there should be 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" free play in the pedal...

You have to adjust the cable (or firewall adjuster if you have one) to get the specified free play--otherwise you are pre-loading the throwout bearing which will cause it to fail prematurely; or worst case, if the pedal is rock-hard, the clutch will slip and burn out.

Free play means that when you push down on the clutch pedal with your hand the pedal should move 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" before you feel the throwout bearing start to press against the clutch spring.

If you have a firewall adjuster then you would screw it in, toward the firewall; if you do not have a firewall adjuster then you need to loosen the adjustable cable under the car at the clutch lever.

well i have it set up like the video, except that at the transmission i have the nut and the locking nut more towards the end of the cable since its hard to screw it in more to the center (ill have to do that when i have a friend with a crowbar) and all the slack out of the cable at the firewall adjuster, and the engagement point of the clutch is at the higher end of the clutch, i dont have to push it in all the way to shift..

I didn't watch the video, as it is not your car it's not particularly relevant. Can you get a photo of the firewall adjuster in your car so we can see how it is adjusted?

The cable is too tight and if the cable adjuster is at the end of the threaded extension then you need to screw the f/w adjuster in toward the firewall to loosen the cable. If the f/w adjuster is already screwed in all the way then you will have to regroup and figure out why.

Post a photo of how your /w adjuster is set.

Then screw it in further until the cable is more loose and you have appropriate free play in the pedal...
