130k mile mods
My 03 GT has 130K miles on it...simple bolt on mods, c&l intake, intake plenum, 75mm TB, UPR X-pipe SLP after cat. Was thinking about getting an '11 5.0...but not wanting car payments right now...so I have decided to keep mine for another year or 2...are there anymore SAFE mods I can do to my car with the mileage it has on it? Cam? NOS? SC? HCI?
EDIT: I have 4.10's, MGW short throw, eibach pro kit springs Thanks Last edited by clodingos97; January 27th, 2011 at 04:06 PM. |

if everything has been maintained well, then there should be any reason you can't do lots of mods like cams, etc.
I know there were a few members who installed FI at around ~140,xxx with no problems.

a new engine is a solid mod
just kidddinggg..but like they said, if its been maintained and compression is still good then i wouldnt sweat it. What mods would you like to do? |

Get a custom dyno tune (though w/ a throttle body and intake you may have already done that) and gears. Suspension mods can be fun too. I have 130780 miles and only recently did the gears, it was good because the stock ones were a little worn and I needed the rebuild anyway. I also recently needed to replace the shocks so I did all eibach suspension so that feels nice too. There are still things to do for us with high mileage that address some things that tend to need replacing around now anyway.

I have 146,000 miles on mine. The last 66,000 were supercharged.
If its not using oil and the compression test is good, you can do pretty much anything you want.

My odometer on my 97 stopped at 134,XXX about 2 and a half years ago... :X Just installed a turbo a few months ago, and the car is running better than ever! lol
As they say with people...Age is just a number...Well with cars (IMO) mileage is just a number! If your car runs good, do whatever your heart desires.

My car has 75600 miles and I'm contemplating something crazy. So by all means go all out.

Good advice. start w/some gears and get a tune. I think you're on the right track. If your car is paid for, just think of what you could do with the money you save every month in payments and insurance! Even if you can only budget $250 every other month, you can do a lot in two years! By then, you should be able to get a low mileage 2011 and save yourself 2 years of depreciation.
