Question

98 cobra motor in a 2000 gt?

I'm going to look at a 2000 mustang gt with a 98 cobra short block and 2v heads. The guy said that cuz of the heads on that block the compression is 11:1. The question that I have is that true? Thanks guys.

that is correct on the cr. i would not buy it unless you have your heart set on sticking to a n/a car or nitrous car. the cobra sb is not any stronger than the stock gt motor so there is really no benifit to it other than a few extra ponys and maybe more head ach if he hacked the install up

Ok one more question? With the compression that high, supercharging the car is completly out of the question? If I supercharge I'm only looking for about 385 to 400.

blowing that car is a little out of the question, you would need constant meth or race gas, nitrous is a little unsafe at that level

not to act like a re-tard but compression has nothing to do with what octane gas you run... right? the main thing is that it throws off your timing instead.....

your right on that but with higher cr the timing will have to be dropped down so low it would serve no benifit to even having the higher cr in the first place. also boosting a high cr motor can be done and alot of people do it. the car will make more hp with lower boost with the higher cr. issue is the cylander temps get hotter so with fords crap .001 or less piston to wall clearence there is more risk of damaging a piston. personally i would still stay away from the car. the way i see it is the guy put in a used cobra bottom end to up the cr when there is so many better ways to gain 30 hp so i can assume the stock motor was toast.
