annoying tension arm

my tension arm was flailing around the other day making lots of noise, so i tightened it as much as i could, and i don't think its doing it any more, and if it is still moving, its not by a lot.

thats not going to take a lot of horse power away, or gas mileage is it?

Edit... i feel like a dumb ass, its the tension arm

Which control arm? It might affect traction, but not gas mileage. Flailing around sounds pretty bad, I'd fix that pronto.

ok, if your belt tensioner is moving around, it's time for a new one, fixed.

if your belt tensioner is bad, replace it asap. if your belt falls off you lose your power assist steering and brakes

i had replaced the pulley on it and i put it back on, but i dont know if it had came loose or not, because i tightened it a lot the other day and it seems to not make any noise, but i might have to buy one just to be safe.
