Im going with what I have, Centerforce Dual Friction clutch. Im only saying this because I dont have expieriece with any Spec or Ram clutches.

Fidanza 2.1 for me, exploded after 700 miles. Broke it in, then let go. Put a hole in my bellhousing.

The Centerforce is really really nice. I get 0 chatter issues. Very light pedal effort, and strong. RPM Outlet sells it for like $310, but call Summitt and have them beat that price. I got mine for $305 shipped.

Also, get a Ford Racing Throw Out bearing, and Pilot Bearing.

I have the Steeda clutch cable, quadrant, and firewall adjuster. Post people will tell you to stay with an OEM clutch cable, but I dont think it would fit on the hooks with the stock length.

I don't have a supercharger, but my Spec stage 2 is pretty nice, very streetable (I spend a lot of time in traffic, too) and it has a torque rating in the 500s so you'd be good. I recommend it. Get a FRRP TOB, whatever you do.

oh and shaun, you might have an answer to this. I'm 100% new to the FI world, so bare with me. I bought the car and the engine had a little knock in it, my dad ( a mechanic) tore it down today. I havnt had the chance to ask him whats wrong with it yet, but hes rebuilding it and dropping it back in. I'm not adding any new mods, everything was already done to the car. It has a 93 street tune and came with a tune for a higher octane gas (i.e turbo blue). Will i need to get the car retuned when its rebuilt, or will the original 93 tune still suffice since nothing is being added to the car?

the tune wont change, it will be the same pending the motor is put back to how it was before the tune.

I have had great luck and like the SPEC clutches, good prices, metric shit tons of options and great customer support

No problem man.

Honestly, this is me, I wouldnt go with a used clutch. Because who knows if it was broken in properly, or if that is the acual mileage on it.

And its the OEM clutch right? Your better off with a higher rated clutch to be honest. Just my opinion.

Yeah what 86er said. As long as your on stock compression, your good man.

The only bad thing Ive ever heard from Spec is chatter, but thats more for the stage 1's

The extra $200 or so you'll spend on a new clutch is insurance that you won't spend another $300 down the line when you find out something was wrong with the used clutch.

they had problems in their earlier design, the clutches have gone through prob 4 redesigns in a few years and they have gotten rid of many complaints customers had. I like to get the +, I.E not a stage 2 but a 2+ they are stronger, easier to engage and super quiet.

Had my SPEC Stage 2 for 10k miles now and haven't heard a peep. I spend enough time in stop and go traffic and dealing with stoplights here in Brooklyn that if the clutch was going to make noise, it probably should have by now. The engagement is pretty on/off, but it feels solid, not frustrating. 86er is right about the +'s though, if you're looking at over 500lb/ft, you'll want the buffer of the 2+.

I've heard good things about the King Cobra one too.

the 2+, hell any of the + use the pressure plate from the stage below and the clutch disc from the stage you are buying, that sounds confusing.

3+ is a stage 3 disc with a tweeked stage 2 pressure plate. Holds more power, engages easier and well just rocks.

We have a turbo car in the shop, he wanted a stage 3 spec, so he got it, its super on/off and tough to modulate, we have a 98 cobra with a 3+ and clutch pedal feels almost like stock.

No shit, thats pretty cool. So basically the + ones use a 1 stage low pressure plate to make pedal effort easier.

Yeah, I didnt hear great things about Centerforce, I was either going Spec 2+ or Ram Powergrip.
