Reverse...wtf?

I have an 01 GT manual tranny. Unless I'm a complete idiot and missed something during "driving stick 101" my reverse is f'd up.

Foot on the break, clutch in, right over and down right?.

For some reason the only way I can get in reverse is if I shift into it at the same time I put the clutch in...its ridiculous. Is my tranny messed up or is it just my shifter. Anyone?

Try putting it into like 3rd or another gear and while the clutch is still in slide it into reverse, if that doesn't work then yeah something is probably wrong

tried the third gear thing. it works. tried all the other gears. it seems like i have to either be in another gear first or engage the clutch and wait a few seconds before i go in reverse. obviously something is wrong, but unless its life threatening for my car I'm not gonna take it in to spend my $100 deductable.

Rather put it towards new paint job. Any thoughts?

put it towards the paint.

the t-3650s are notorious for hard shifts in 1st 3rd and reverse.
