Kenne Bell boost-a-pump help
OK, so my ride is relatively new to me. 2002 GT with tons of mods by previous owner, including Vortech supercharger. My question is about the boost a pump. Car has one in it, but I'm not sure if it's hooked up or working as it should and need some help. The issue is there are two sets of black/red small gauge wires from the boost a pump. One is connected to the adjustable rheostat from Kenne Bell, and the other was run up to the engine bay but not connected to anything. I see in online instructions and older threads on MM that there was a activation switch/device that detected when the boost was engaged that triggered the boost a pump? These two wires in my car where just spliced together. The rest of the install (main red wires tapped into the fuel pump reset in the trunk) and ground were all done right and still connected. The other thing is previous owner switched the tank to a Cobra tank with dual pumps, and the boost-a-pump model in my car appears to be the one for a single pump. Any input from someone who knows about these would be great. Not sure if I should disconnect it, leave it as is, or try to get the triggering device??? Help please !

it sounds like the guy originaly hooked up the bap using the hob's switch. the hob's switch is triggered to turn on the bap once 3+# of boost is made. the fused red wire hooks into the fuel cut off wire which is pink with a brown stripe (black stripe) i cant remember which color it is. the other red wire hooks into the other end of the pink and brown/black wire leading to the fpdm. the black wire is ground. the other 2 black wire looms can be cut and tied together allowing the bap to run full time. the fpdm will then control the voltage needed for the pumps. as for looking to see if it is a 20 or 40 amp bap there is no diff in look. there is a serial number on the back you can call kenne bell and find out which one it is

Thanks for the info. I'm slowly working my way through getting to know the car's ins/outs and fixing all the little crap that was done poorly or needs attention. Didn't originally even know it had the BAP, but was replacing the hacked up trunk pad and clearing out some abandoned amp wiring in the trunk and stumbled across hidden behind the drivers' side panel. You guys are great for helping out on this stuff!

if i remeber correctly the two wires you mentioned being pigtailed together means that its setup to run all the time and no switch is needed. Mine is set up this way...its more simple and takes some of the headaches out of tuning.
