stock is always scary. Hell IMO even if built nothign last for ever.

Mine at WOT with o/d off every once and awhile would rev to 6500 hit the rev limiter and then shift. It was suppose to shift at 6k. But it didn't do it all the time. I think it may have been the tune sometimes. My old tuner IMHO wasn't as the best auto tuner. So I will have my new tuner WOT my car a few times to see if it does it then. If it's going to be shot I'll start to invest in a tranny and fuel system and leave the motor alone. Gotta pay to play

porblems holding 335rwhp....I don't think so. A bone stock 4r70w will handle that power without blinking an eye. Just because one guy has a problem with a particular component does not mean the component is having those same problems as a whole.

As the production years go on, there are almost always upgrades to major components such as transmissions. The 4r70w has has quite the assortment of different internal parts over the years. Everything from the valve body, the drums, intermediate shaft (stub shaft), to the pump has undergone some sort of design change. In the later years 01+ most of the weaknesses have been drastically reduced. That being said, you can upgrade almost every singe part in your transmission depending on how far you want to take the build. For the average street application, you are really only taking about a couple hundred dollars worth of parts to make a damn solid transmission. Guy are throwing bone stock (with the exception of the spiral ring and retainer) 4r70ws and 4r75ws in modded 03-04 cobras without issues .

It's easy to get skurred when modding these cars and seeing the time and money that goes into building one that you don't have to worry whether it is going to turn into a grenade or not........just don't start getting all crazy saying you wish you had a manual. In your situation, it is far more than just throwing in a new clutch and flywheel to meet your goals. The t-45/tr-3650 that come in these cars serve their purpose well for a car that sees stock power levels and doesn't get ripped on. They are a huge weak link in the driveline at anything from stock power on up..... once you start driving them like they should be driven. Throw a blower in the equation and unless you roll into every gear or just do 4th gear highway pulls every so often, they are ticking time bombs, not to mention they will destroy many other components along with them.

Be happy you have an auto.....for many many reasons.

Cam swap is kind of put on hold right now. I am doing some minor work to a set of heads that will go in at the same time as the cams. By doing this, I'm looking to get closer to 10:1 compression and a few more CFM which should get me an extra 15-20rwhp. I'm ok with waiting a little longer for a nice chunk of power

Be happy you have an auto? That is highly dependent on how he likes to drive. When or if it brakes upgrade like everything else. I am swaping now but whenever it goes bad a T56 will take it's spot and problem solved

Thanks man. I am modifying a set of stock PI heads. The modifications will be minor.

Mild portwork, modifying the intake valves, shaving about .035" off to gain a bit of compression. Should be nice. I have a lot of forks in the fire right now, which makes each individual project take a little longer than usual LOL

When I said he should be happy he has an auto.....I was referring to HIM and his car's situation. LOL
