Never had this problem before :(

Its raining cats and dogs here and i drove through a puddle i had no clue was there because the entire street looks the same. immediately making it out of the puddle my battery light came on and my power steering stopped working and my brake feel weird is fuck like my car isn't running when i try to stop. haven't had a chance to pop the hood because its raining so bad just wanted to get an idea of what might be going on. it also will hold a rev for longer now instead of dropping back down to idle. It starts right up but just will hold 1300 rpm for a little bit and then drop back down slowly..........poor car

Thanks Guys

probably sucked some water in the intake and messed your maf a bit. once it drieds it should be ok. another thing could be water on some of your electrical componants is messing with them.

If the belt comes off, your battery wont charge (hence the battery light), your power steering pump wont be running, hence the lack of power steering. Not sure about the brakes. Different problem perhaps.
Shouldn't be hard to spot the problem once you pop the hood.

Does sound like the accessory belt. Probably isn't off, just slipping from the water though. It also generally makes a nasty squealing noise, but that does happen.

Let it dry and you'll probably be fine.

Your brakes run off of your power steering
its a hydro boost system

Your belt probobly got soaked and slipped causin it to slip on the alternator and the power steering pump.

if your maf got wet by chance, pull it out with the star bit clean it with alcohol and q tips--be careful. Inspect your belt. Sometimes when it slips with some major water, it can become glazed and still slip. Just check it to be safe

That's odd. It's probably a combination of wet belts, and water being sucked into the intake.

I hate driving in rain anyhow, and try to avoid it the best I can.

The lack of power sterring and brakes can all be explained by simply the engine shutting off.

OP the puddle was probably big enough to choke your engine. This would explain why the battery light came on. (this will also happen if you stall the car). I dout anything serious is wrong. If the car is running, I would let it run at operating temperature for about 5-10 min if you want to be really sure everything is out of your system.

well my belts or belt i cant tell really because i had it open for maybe 1 seconds are completely off the pulleys lol i'm surprised my battery didn't kill itself but that is why everything is working so all should be good once it stops raining long enough to go out there and get it on.

Thanks for the advice guys btw where is the IAC, i am gonna take it off and clean it with alcohol and a q tip anyways just to have piece of mind.

I was going to say the pulley probally slipped off. No big deal, could either just put it back on, or buy a new one.

Without the belt, the battery light will instantly come on. The belt drives the power steering which is a hydro boost setup, so it operates the brackets, the power steering etc.... Thats why you had shitty brakes, and no powersteering.

It wont drive the waterpump, so the car can overheat quick. So dont drive it like that.
