HELP car wont start

have a 2001 mustang GT BULLITT. so i go to turn the key, all the normal signs except wont turn over. no clicking, the solenoid isn't spinning. now i know its not the battery, its brand new. so i changed the started, and it worked fine for about 3 days! until last night, same problem. went to turn the key and nothing happened. the lights come on, the dash lights do the regular thing of lighting up, when i turn the key while pushing in the clutch, certain dash lights go away just like normal... someone please give me any other advice... im thinking MAYBE the clutch isn't engaging? could that be possible after engaging fine for however long now? can it just un adjust itself? if so i know its a self adjusting clutch where you just pull it and it adjusts... sooo anyways, all advice is helpful

Pop a new battery in anyway. New doesn't mean good. Do the gauges stay lit/alive after you tried cranking, or did they all die?

When you attempt to start it, does it continue to keep cranking but not start? If so, does it sound like it wants to start but doesn't?

no. the lights dont dim. i know the battery is fine because i had this problem 3 weeks ago, then it stopped for a week. and drove fine which rules out the alternator and the battery. no cranking at all. not trying to start, feels like its not getting the signal to the starter. for those who have manuals, it does the exact same thing as if i were to turn the key without pushing in the clutch.

It could be the clutch switch is going out check or replace it. Also for the heck of it test the battery with a battery tester. It will simulate a load like the starter would put on the battery and will tell you if the battery is good.

Don't forget checking the starter. The starter or solenoid could be bad. Some starters/solenoids go slowly, others go suddenly. It's hard to say.

i replaced the starter 1 year back. and once these problems arose. i just replaced it again, 3 days ago. the new one ran fine and started these problems again. i like what dude said about clutch switch. didn't know about that. thinking the ignition switch might be going bad? is that possibly connected straight to the starter?

Hmm. My thought would be see if you are getting a signal to the starter relay when you go to crank. If you aren't, then you've at least traced it back to the ignition/clutch switches.

...Just like high school algebra. Isolate variables and solve. lol
