Ring bolt in Rear Diff??

ok... So I took my rear end apart to upgrade and set the back lash, because I think it was a little off from when I Upgraded everything to 31 spline (Had some weird noise). Well I discovered the actual carrier got worn to crap (was a cheap used one).. So I bought a new carrier, swapped the ring over and........ One of the damn ring bolts stripped....... I tried a tap and die to rethread the bolt... Did not work...

So... I live in south florida and I cannot find another damn ring bolt anywhere... Please someone tell me where i can get another Ring bolt.....

Any help will be grateful....

A few months after I had my gears changed, half of them came loose and a few actually came out and bounced around in the rear. I was able to save all but 1 and have been driving my car around for about 2 years with one bolt missing and the others tightened down pretty damn tight. I took care of my car after work and didnt really have any options for buying a new bolt as it was after midnight and I needed to be able to drive my car home so I could drive it back. Not to encourage it, but if you need to drive your car, you should be fine with one bolt missing. Just make sure you clean everything well loctite the bolts in place so they don't come out again.

No luck with any performance shops around here... Gunna hit up a junkyard in the morning and see if i can find some. All the others are already torqued to factory specs without loctite, so I hope that does not turn into an issue later.. Even Ford dealerships said they have to order the bolts....

I've actually had luck buying them at a local auto parts store before, you might want to try calling around a bit.

you need to put loctite on them, even tourqued they can still back out. the factory put loctite on them to stop it from happening.

those bolts are not weak little bolts, clean off everything with a degreaser, apply loctite and tighten them about as tight as you can. If you aren't happy about one missing bolt now, you seriously don't want to end up dealing with what could happen if those come out.

From when it happened to me

I had 3 bolts missing and was only able to find 2 at first, third one showed up a while later. I was lucky the rtv leaked and I had to redo it, thats how I found the third.

Well after a day full of searching for replacement bolts and trying to re-thread the bolt... I finally got it back in. All are torqued. But now I am scared of having them back out on me cause i did not use loctite... I got to drunk earlier to check your guys replies and could not part from the TV during the Super Bowl, so now i guess i am screwed... I really don't want to take that thing back apart. It was a bitch to squeeze back in there...

I need some reassurance its going to be okay... Any offers???

Go buy some loctite and a can of degreaser, do it again or risk it again.
