PICS:How do you remove the ABS pin?

Im trying to take my rear axle out and cant get the ABS pin thingy out. I got the bolt out on the other side and tried to pry the housing loose but no luck. The passenger side someone rounded the fuckin bolt so Im going to have to cut and drill it out.

Is this a ABS pin? How do I remove it?

Here is the stripped bolt...

Once you pull that bolt loose you should be able to tap out the sensor towards the middle of the car. Try gently hitting it with a hammer and punch or hitting the axle itself against the sensor

When working on brakes/axles always buy a couple cans of brake cleaner and and a can of PB Blaster. Spray the bolts down with brake cleaner, then spray with PB Blaster and let it sit for about 30 minutes.

you prob used a regular 6 or 7mm on it? Most do it, but it takes an inverted torx to remove it properly. I just wiggle the sensor up and down and they always come out, at worst a rubber handle or something NOT metal to tap on it with to motivate it to come out

I got the other side out no problem. I just tap the metal pin and it came right out. The bolt on the passenger side is so rounded off now a 6mm is to big and a 5.5mm cant get enough bite. I tried pliers, pipe wrench, locking pliers,460 channel locks. I dont really know what to do now other than cut off the head and drill and use my easy out set.

I'm goin to try to hammer on a 5mm and see if that will hold on enough to break it loose. If that don't work and it probably wont, dremel tool.

just get the proper inverted torx socket, by the looks of the picture of the torn up one, the correct socket still may work.

Oh the one I bent was the one I beat the piss out of to get out... The one I used the normal deep wall socket for came out with no problem....

I do agree with 86er and Casper with the torx thought though

I had to take them off to get to the c clips on the axles.

OP just grind or cut off the head on the bolt carefully pull off the sensor then the you should be able to grab whats left of the bolt with the vice grips and unscrew it. Or like you said drill it and use an easy out.

I had to cut the bolt and got the 3rd member out. Long story short I tried to drill the stud out and broke off one of my carbide easy out extractor in it. Im goin to have to see if the shop thats installing my gears can get it out. I dont have anything that can drill through it.

I tried to drill out the extractor but I was doing more harm then good. Hopefully the shop can drill it out then Ill have to run a nut and bolt to hold the ABS sensor in place.

Heres the pics....
