procharger bov

i have a p1sc on a 2000 model mustang gt 2v with 10#boost when i pull in third gear to full boost then shift in to fourth {racing}when i get back in the gas full throttle there is about 1/2 to a second delay before the car picks back up sometimes a back fire too,now the last 2 times i did it it blew the bov off the pipe, is it the bov not reacting fast enough not open or closing causing it or what could be the problem i need help this is my first blower car.

i read on another forum that had the same problem using a bigger vacume line going to the surge valve making the valve react quicker.

Make sure it slides from open to closed easy. I had to take mine apart, clean it up and decided to just replace the diaphragm inside as well(procharger sells them cheap).

Seems like its staying closed. Ive never heard of the BOV getting blown off, make sure its tightend down.

But I think the valve is staying shut and not opening inbetween shifts.

Pissing is the wind here but mine ever opened between shifts either. I know being auto is different but not sure. You think since its not opening it's loading up the cylinder?

I think its the famous lag from the fuel pressure spike. Us centri guys experience that shit BAD!!!! Mine does it too. I dont think it has anything to do with the BOV.

Mine will backfire sometimes but its between shifts when it happens. When you lift your foot to shift, gas SLAMS into the FRPS. The FRPS tells the computer to shut the pumps down. By that time, you are back on the gas and the computer has to tell the pumps to pick back up again.

This is what I think you are experiencing.

shocked to hear it is your first time hearing about this. its the lean spike everyone bitches about with boosted returnless systems. stupid frps senser some people have gotten decent results by getting rid of the pprv, and using the kb disk. tuners can also help limit it. simple fix is shift fast or dont back off the gas when you shift (not so good idea)

I had a problem with my alum Procharger bov and it gave me some wierd problmes. Take apart the bov and inspect it. Theres only like 3-4 allen head screws holding it together, then its just a spring and a leather diaphram inside..cake work. The diaphram looks like a carb diaphram and mine had wore holes in itself over time and wasnt sealing all the way... I lost boost, had backfires, bov sounded odd... all sorts of gremlins. So I replaced the leather piece and, problem solved. I ordered mine for Procharger for too much $$ now Id look at the local parts store and match something up.

im amsuming the back fire is when i shift and press full throttle the surge valve isnt closing back up quick enough and im dumping all the fuel in with no boost the the boost kicks in the burns the puddled fuel causing a back fire.if i dont go to red line and shift a little sooner i dont have a problem its when i boost it all up and have it at red line then shift it falls on it face every time.i think my bov is working properly as far as opening and closing just that its not doing it fast enough.does every one pull to red line before shifts or is it known to shift early because of the lag.

the fast shift is the problem the bov doest react fast enough it lets the pressure off but dont close back quick enough to build boost back if i slow down and shift it works good but that will get you beat.

your frps could have taken a dump on you. if your valve was staying shut or opening late your blower would serge like crazy. serge sounds like one of those ricer bov's. it still sounds more like a fuel problem than the bypass.

you can test your bypass by taking off the hose going from your bypass to your intake and have some one hit the gas. it should vent when your at idle and part throttle but when you hammer down on the gas it should close

it boosts up great in every gear it pulls to ten pounds its the lag between shifts that i dont understand if i slow shift every gear its great its when i shift fast and get back in the gas quick it falls on its face for a second then the bov closes then starts to build boost and it picks back and pulls to full boost in that gear

Definatlly delete the pprv inside the tank if you havent done so already. Those things are a 50/50 shot they dont work correctlly. I picked up around 7% more fpdc and it was causing my pump to max. I simply run gates submeribal fuel line from pumps to hat.
