long-tubes don't fit well, or at all. mac is all i've seen people be able to run on the automatics. shorty headers do not add much power, if you get a good deal they're worth it

how do you figure long tubes dont fit well? I believe the flow techs work with the auto's also.

shorties are a waste of time. Long tubes might throw down monster peak gains, they help the whole curve from off idle all the way to redline, where you spend most of your time anyways

based off what i've read on here by the guru's and at the shops around here. it's a tight squeeze with the stock k-member and auto transmission.

Not really, once the k member is out of the way, you just slip them up from the bottom and thats that

you don't need a new k-frame to make l/t's fit, they fit fine with the stock one.

I'd go Mac. cheap and has good results.

SLP is nice but the price tag is crazy!

This. I dont get why you think LTs wont fit well.

Go with Kooks LT's. I cant find one fucking video on youtube with a 2V stock cams/heads with Kooks Longtubes. Aronious!

And the stock manifolds flow okay, shortys arent worth it for shit imo

Long tubes allow for higher exhaust gas velocity and help create a scavenging effect which can actually help in cylinder filling at higher RPM. They offer the best gains over the largest RPM range, but will require an aftermarket mid-pipe and can present problems with emissions certification (depending where you live). They are also fairly hard to install on our cars.
Short tubes simply can't offer the advanges of long tubes, but the individual tubes for each port will reduce combustion dilution over the stock log type manifolds and also allow some heat to escape the exhaust port. Power gains are very small and typically only in a narrow RPM range. On the plus side, they do allow you to use the stock mid-pipe with the close mounted cats, are more emissions friendly and much easier to install. They can give a slight boost in performance over the factory manifolds, but most people feel they are not worth it unless you get a good deal on a set. Personally, I would go with a good aftermarket H or X pipe (off-road or with hi-flow cats) and stock manifolds or go all-out and get the long tubes.
