CJ Pony lowering springs...little help please
My 04 GT has 18k miles with original suspension parts. I'm looking to get CJ Pony 2" sportline or 1.5" pro kit. Should I put new ISO's in the front and rear? Current shocks/struts have low miles, but are 7 years old, will they be ok?
The sportlines are supposed to lower the front slightly more which I'd prefer, but not sure if these might be too low. Both are <$200 with the ISO's included and I'm hoping not to spend more than that. I searched on this and read the coil-over sticky, just want to know what I'm getting into before I pull the trigger on these. Thanks. |

Once you start to lower your car, you'll end buying all the other parts that go along with it or it's just not worth it to go with just the lowering springs IMO.
You'll need caster/camber plates to set your front end alignment. Offset ball joints and bump steer tie rod ends.

This has been discussed numerous times.... If you're on a budget and don't mind taking your wheels off again in the future to do shox and struts id just get springs. I got the sportlines my stock shox and struts have 80k plus on them and i didnt replace them. I got a steeda bumpsteer kit to help with the steering geometry because the drop was pretty low. I also got an alignment from ford. I drove it that way for 4 months and it's parked now for winter. This spring I am getting caster camber plates and shox/struts to finish it off. So with 18k miles I'd just reuse your isos, i mean they are inexpensive but really not needed. I didn't even put mine back in. I'd definitely plan on getting ball joints later on down the road but again for 18k miles you should be ok for a season or two. Like I said you'll get away with just springs and an alignment for a while. Trust me lowering springs are great but if I had to do it again I would've just saved an extra month for a upr qa1 coilover kit lol so do what you wanna do. It's your money and your car but that has been my experience
