Great deal on a Motor
I found this on Craigslist, a guy selling a Mach 1 motor, out of a 5 speed. Has a lower end noise, Im assuming a bearing. But he was selling it for $600, full longblock, except injectors.
Called me today, and told me I can pick it up for $250 tomorrow 4V heads, steel crank, and aluminum block. Great foundation for my motor build. Im going to get the block bored out .020 over, buy a full rotating assembly (minus crank) And bang, good to go. I may, Im not 100% sure yet, sell the 4V heads and use that money to get mine either P&P or buy some new 2V heads. So question, will I need to get the crank balanced? And, whats the limit of the Aluminum blocks? My goal is like 650rwhp. IF that. I figured the getting the longblock for $250 is a steal and I can build the motor while I still drive around in my car.

Dang thats a steal man. Wish I could find a deal like that. Your plans sound good to me.
If I'm reading that right, sell your 4v heads and get those mach ones ported, that'd be sweet.

I like the idea of a built 2V. But Id like to keep the 4V shit, It would be badass. I like the fact if I want to cam it, its only 2 cams and not 4 lol.
2VSouth, I ment selling the 4V heads from the longblock, and using that money to get my heads done over or buy new 2V heads. Everett, if so Ill let you know man. Id sell the heads/cams/intake and whatever else.

Why do you want to get rid of the 4v heads? I say build the bottom end and put the 4v top end back on and throw your S trim back on it with a better intercooler. This summer a local guy did this swap. He bought a used Mach 1 motor that had a non-intercooled Vortech SC trim blower mounted to it. On 6 psi with a midpipe and catback the car put down 389/345.

Like I said, I like the idea of a built 2V. But Id probally keep them after just thinking about it. The 4V motors are sexy. And it would be easy as hell to make 600rwhp.
I wont be building the motor til next winter. In the meantime, Id buy forged rods/pistons. Fasteners (maybe ARP) Cams, and maybe send the heads out for a port job. And then spin that motor to 7000 with boost that makes me happy

Just kidding thats what I want to do though have a built gt and have a built thunderbird or mark viii on top of that. But good find and good luck in whatever you do with the newfound parts.

i will advise you if it tore up a rod bearing you may have trash in the cam bores if it was driven. i'd check it out. if they're tore up, heads are pretty much junk. but for $250 that's a good price.

shaun.... im not suggesting or anything.... GET THE 4V and build it. Dont worry about any cams. The 4v with stock cams will outperform the 2v w/ cams. Just build the bottom end and go with it.
yes get EVERYTHING balanced. Dude... go 4v. Im rocking a 2v and WISH i would have went 4v. F* these 2v's!!

Lol man speaks the truth. Fuck it, he told me to come down tomorrow and pick it up for $250. Figured Ill take it apart, check out the lower end of the motor, make sure all is good. I figure the crank should be okay. I hope anyways. Then theres acually a machine shop right down the street from me, Ill get it honed and bored .020 over. Ill get some new valves/springs/retainers for the heads. Try to find a deal on some 4V cams. Then just order forged rotating assembly minus the crank (as long as its good) OEM fasteners.
Then I think, I would need a Mach mounting bracket for the Vortech, and maybe the coolant crossover tube? Can anyone confirm that? Cobra hat w/ pumps and a BAP some 60lb injectors and dyno that bitch

4v, no doubt. If nothing more than for the look of a HUGE motor. Paint those big 4v covers to match your car. But it will breathe so much better. 4v shaun or sell me the motor complete!!

You could take the saved money and get a 5.0 big bore block, the pistons arent much more and everything else bolts right up. Most importantly the 5.0 big bore block is really strong so it will take whatever you decide to do in the future. As for the bracket, im pretty sure the difference is just in the mounting holes. You could make a copy of your bracket out of plexi glass and find where any different holes need to be drilled and then just drill them into your bracket.

yeah, youd be an idiot to not do this. As stated stock 4v cams plus 15lbs or more of boost=constant boner.
The only thing id also do to the block is either you or the machine shop should de bur the windows in the main's. The bur's are where the cracks start and if you remove the bur's you remove just about all the chances of stress fractures in the WAP block. The heads on that mach are the same as the terminator's one of fords best flowing heads out of the box. Buy a set of long tubes, throw your blower on it with 9.5 comp ratio and enjoy the fuck out of it

those 4v heads wouldn't need to be touched to make 650rwhp.
