airbags interchange 99-04 plugs diff between 99-01 02-04

airbags interchange 99-04 plugs diff between 99-01 02-04
hey guy just wanting to know if its ok to cut my airbag harness to fit my car. it appears that the 02-04 use a different harness and plugs. i got a set of airbags from a 99 and when i went to install, the plug in are different. so i was wondering if its ok to cut the plugs off my old airbag to splice into my new ones. would this cause any problems with resistance?

The way i could see it being bad is if that airbag dosnt work after you modify the wiring.

I mean by all means go for it. Its just not something i would do

Are the wire colors exactly the same? I'd be a bit hesitant to cut and splice airbag wires unless I could confirm with the vehicle wiring diagram that nothing changed besides the sockets.

this.

Dude there are certain things you just shouldn't f*** with in a car, airbags being one of them. it's stupidity to risk your life to not just spend some extra money once. you could be paying for it for the rest of your life if something happens.

get the proper safety equipment for YOUR YEAR MAKE AND MODEL car, never try to modify something that isn't a direct match when it comes to safety equipment

On a further note, even if the wiring is the same, i wouldn't exactly want a spliced wire powering something so important.

the wire could be spliced incorrectly or it could even vibrate loose with daily driving. and you won't know til you need the airbag.

If I were in your position, I'd just check the vehicle wiring harness. Properly spliced wires won't vibrate loose. But make sure to disconnect the vehicle battery before installing them if you do choose to go that route

I pulled the airbags in my Mustang since the airbags gave me a light concussion when I was involved in an accident with my Infiniti. But that's also due to my habit of sitting much closer to the steering wheel than most people of my size would. If you delete your airbags, the light will come on, but you can just pull the bulb from the cluster. What I need to do one of these days is disable the bulb out chime that goes off once in a while.
