I'm wondering if it's possible to convert the Dual Single DIN dash radio console in my 99 Mustang Convert to the Single Double DIN console availible in the 01-04 Mustangs? Has anyone done this or know what's involved? I know there is a small metal peice that seperates the two DIN units in the console now.

Also, I'm considering getting a new center console to match, as the armrest on mine is shot and for a few bucks more, I can get a matching 03 center console. Anyone know of any difficulties with this?

I just put the center console from an '01 in my 97 exact fit. I didnt change out the heatercontrol/stereo bezel though.

I don't know how well it works but you should probably check your local salvage yards. Unfortunatly there is always at least one new edge in there. Why would you wat the double din anyways? What are you planning?

I like the center console for the 01-04 much better, specifically the button locations and cup holders. And if I go that route, becuase I have a convertible, I'd need to move the fog light button. So that means a new radio bezel. Also, I'm considering double din nav unit. Pioneer's new one isn't priced too bad.

SO I know this is a really old thread. But I'm wondering if anyone knows if I can swap the console from an 01-04 into my 97 and then just get rid of the 3 buttons. I don't want to relocate those switches cause I don't care.

Also, any recommendations on double din touch display with nav? I want nav, and I want a decent stereo, nothing really insane though.
