Keeping the air silencer on is like making your car breath through a straw.

I'm confused...are you talking about a complete CAI system or just the air filter? or are you talking about the old circular style air filters? If it is the K&N II FIPK just loosen the clamp at the end of the filter and remove it from the inlet tube. Make sure to read the directions, because you need to oil the filter. In no way am I trying to be an ass! I'm just not sure what K&N filter you mean. What year vehicle?

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure he is talking about just the filter itself if he is asking about the air silencer. You don't have to worry about that with a CAI.

Thanks for the addition to your SIG neckbone I guess what threw me off what that he was talking about a paper filter he wanted to replace, so I'm guessing he is talking about the circular KN filter.

The orginal filter that comes in the car stock is paper.

Yeh you can buy just the K&N filter.. i think that is what he did.. instead of a intake. Take the silencer off.. and you can do like my other buddy did and cut the top end off that filter houseing to open it up ( lol kinda like a gehtto intake) but it will let more air through.
