Exhaust Components

Hey guys been doing some reading. I see a lot of people have X pipe and a lot of people have H pipe. I hear X pipe makes the car sound a little tinny while H pipe gives it a lower growl. I have magnaflow cats on right now and looking to make my exhaust louder. Should I go H or X? and whats the diff between off road and catted? Also...whats the difference between the h/x pipe and a mid-pipe? what would give me louder sound?

yeah prochamber is only a mid pipe! the midpipe is what connects your headers to your cat back exhaust! and yes the O/R will be louder

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it goes headers> mid-pipe> exhaust

X-pipes, H Pipes and the Mac prochamber are all midpipes .. like they said .. they are section where the cats are traditionally located .. you have your you stock manifolds, which most people replace with headers, ( Long Tubes or Shorties) then you have the mid pipe where alot of people choose to go wtih mid pipes that delete the cats, and then you have your cat back, basically pipe and mufflers. The HP/TQ #'s are so minute, basically all you have to worry about is the way it sounds. X-pipes are raspier in full throttle than H's and I really hate the prochamber b/c well I've heard them in person and just don't like them and they aren't worth the xtra $ .. anyway ..

Off Road or catless midpipes are cheaper, b/c they don't contain cats, you can score a new H pipe for around 135-140 bucks or a nice used one for around 100 ... X pipes are a tad bit more .. but basically listen to the clips and find out which set up sounds best to you !

When you go with shorties or long tubes, are you limited with your midpipe and exhaust setups since, im thinking they both don't end up at the same spot?

No, Not really you just have to make sure you get the midpipe for the right length headers ..

Shorties should not affect the length at all.. they will bolt up just like a stock manifold. And like MeZ said you have to get the right length mid pipe to match the LT headers.
