fix the misfire code fist as that can cause other codes. i'd bet it's a coil going out, swap the number 5 and number 6 coils and see if the miss moves to cylinder 6. if so replace the coil.

you can buy them individually at a ford dealer or pretty much any parts store like autozone, oreily's, etc. any place should have a couple in stock.

what i meant by "move to 6" is that if the misfire on cylinder 5 is due to the coil, and you swap the coils between cylinder 5 and 6 so that the "bad" coil is on cylinder 6 now, then your misfire code will move to cylinder 6.

Keep in mind also that misfire does not immediately mean an ignition problem. The misfire monitor measures and compares the rotational velocity and acceleration of the crank--that's all. It doesn't know whether it'a an ignition, fueling, or compression issue; just that the crank rotation wasn't right.

More about the misfire monitor here...

This. You first need to determine if it's fuel, spark, or compression (hopefully not compression). Sway plugs and/or COP to eliminate or determine spark.

^ totally agree with the above 2 posts. swapping coils is easy, it'll rule out that as a possibility or it'll confirm it as the problem, and coils going bad is the more common problem rather than a bad injector or burnt valve or something of that sort.

how many miles are on your car? Do you have the cats? I had those codes and one other on an aviator, compression was good, new coil and a new plug, Still missing. Ended up being a clogged cat.

Im not saying thats the problem, just make sure you take it step by step and not over look anything

i have a catted x pipe, and have around 95 thousand, i have all my cats, but as for the coil pack its going to be free, because of my extra motor, and if need be i can get a new fuel injector. right now im just put a bottle of sea foam into my tank and its running a lot better but im sure i still have the miss fire

Could be the fuel rail pressure sensor. When mine went, I had 2 codes that popped up saying Lean in Bank 1 & 2. Can you view live data? using a scan tool or something?

If so check your fuel rail pressure. See if its all over the place. When mine went out, it would go from 45 to 36 to 41 to 45psi etc... When I fixed it, it would read 38-40psi at idle.

Also check your short term fuel trims just to get an idea of how lean its running.

they're a sinch to change especially on cyl 5 which is the front drivers side. all you do is unplug the connector, and then there's a 7mm bolt you have to take out which is clearly visible, then just pull it off like you would a plug wire.
