squeaking sound from engine seems like maybe the belt?


hey guys...just drove home and a buddy told me i had a squeaking sound from the front end...when i checked it..it was indeed a weird squeaking sound and a piece of metal on which the belt runs on is moving...dont know if thats normal or if thats causing the squeak...heres a pic of that piece its the lower middle piece thats made of all metal right infront of the hose in the...maybee is it that piece or the whole belt?pic

Awesome, I just posted exactly the same problem a few hours ago and I'm from NY too! My squeaking went away after my car sat for a couple hours, I think my belt might have gotten some moisture on it from the rain today. Maybe see if yours does the same?

yea its the tensioner arm...it was moving/shaking...i tried to hold it still but couldnt...i mean is it supposed to move? and i just turned my car on and drove around and the noise isnt there anymore...but now im worried crazy if that tensioner arm is meant to move or not lol...

Its not supposed to move/wiggle a lot. If I were a betting man I would say that noise isn't gone for good. You might have to replace the tensioner which is super easy. You can also try using belt dressing and spray it on the belt.

took it to ford and they said the tensioner arm has a spring inside and that spring loosend over time and that im going to have to replace the tensioner arm...says its not a big deal and should be a cheap and easy fix...they sell the piece for about 80 and on ebay its about 40

its like a 20 minute fix save money and do it yourself. pick the part up from your loca autozone or advance auto

It's 30 from autozone and it cones with a pulley, I changed mine in the rain in 5 mibs when mine whent out..... Change it now or else you will be sorry when your on the road and your brakes stop and your powerstearibg is out, like what happened to me ( exept ut was raining a lot too )

just changed it today...got it from advanced auto for like 30ish thanks guys!!...but they think that wasnt causing the squeak...they think it might me either the ac or ps?!?

i also have a similar question.

whenever going WOT, then letting off, when it shifts into the next gear/od, it squeaks.

im ont sure if the belts ever been changed on my car , could that possibly be it?
