you should make your own dimensions anyway since you are going to be bending your own square tubing. I have mine in my attic still in the box but damn i dont feel like just measuring them. lol

I don't think home made sfc's sounds like a good idea. Wouldn't you want the knowledge that the SFC's are engineered and made specifically for your car with the appropriate steel and design. Just my thoughts unless you know more about the weak and strong points of the mustangs body than I do and how to correct them with SFC's.

I've always wondered why there isn't a lot of people that do this. Maybe its cost but it seems to me it would be a lot cheaper. Its just tubing thats bent. I don't get the problem that people worry about it so much.

I would imagine making your own wouldn't be much worse than any bought ones as far as performance or feel in the car. There are some factors already such as how good of welding you can do, how much surface area they attach too, how thick the tubing is but those are present with the pre-bent ones. Installing them is fun, but when its only $100 to buy a set it doesn't seem worth taking the time to make them, and now that I think about it those seat braces would be fairly difficult to make as well. I put some in a few weeks ago, but I didn't measure them. It shouldn't be hard to just get under the car with a tape measure.

you can cut out notches like pieces of pie and weld it shut when you bend it.

If you are going to do something like the guy in this post did ^^^ please tell me you can do a better job welding. The welds the guy in this post did could use some help, could have been done a lot better and could have been a lot stronger

Its only $100 shipped for some FLSFC's, add up what the tubing costs, flat steel for the seat brace, and nuts for the seat bolts and time and effort and its simpler and quicker to order it, now with that said i am all for DIY projects!

There's not a ton engineering to SFC if you have the tubing dimensions of the production SFCs. The engineering is all in the force to cause the bend the tubing. The critical dimension here is the height of the tubing. If you wanted to, you could use a very small I-beam and get the same results.
