intercooler piping size......
Are there any advantages to going to larger intercooler piping. Im still running the stock procharger intercooler piping and it just appears kinda small. I would think that the boost wouldnt come on as quick with the larger piping but I dont know.
18psi is about what I should be running. Its not so much the psi but with the larger piping there will be more volume of air roaring to get thru the TB opening which i think would be beneficial. Any thoughts?

I dont have an intercooler yet but I was told that too large of intercooler piping that you can lose some velocity from too large of piping. But if that squeezes down once it hits the tb/plenum that shouldnt be an issue. But i was told that too large of piping can have a negative affect.

man you need to be running 3 inch ic pipe with a 4 core ic for those boost levels. im pretty sure your ic pipe is 3 inch, and no larger pipe wont slow down velosity, it will allow for more cfm to pass threw at a given moment. velocity is an issue with n/a cars where the motor has to draw its own air.

those were all tuner sites but as much as they run boost and intercoolers compared to v8 cars maybe they will have some good info on the subject. Thats why I posted it.

with your setup, id agree with stal. 3" piping and a good 4" intercooelr will be sufficient. Anything larger then 3" piping and you will loose some throttle response. unless you plan on using a large blower i dont htink theres any need for larer then 3" pipe.

alright, well my piping is pretty scarred up. What do you guys think of if I sand it all down and paint/clear it all to match the car's DSG color?

best thing you chould do it stay with 3in piping but get a custom coldside done and not use the stock Procharger setup. To many bends. In an intercooled setup the less 90* turns the best.

+1 I think our stock procharger pipes will flow just fine with that boost. Our pipes are huge compared to some other setups Ive seen. Are you running the 3 core i/c?

2 core intercooler... Scott, Ive ALWAYS said that i HATED all the bends in the IC piping. Too much restriction.
Shaun.... what IC piping kit did you get on ebay? Pics? did all the pieces work?

Id upgrade the i/c before the piping if your worried about flow, although I doubt you should be. Ive always hated the piping from the i/c to the maf...they coulda done something better there. But Ive always had good results, so I never really messed with it.

Like this, Stal had really good luck with it. And its only $145 shipped. I bet with that intercooler youll pick up a good amount of boost because it flows a lot more then the procharger i/c you have. Not to mention itll look boss behind the Cobra bumper.

i was thinking maybe not so tall though. I dont mind cutting my rebar and all to make it look perfect but Ill just have to go do all the measuring prior to buying it.
