What mods to do?

I'm fairly new to this site I have been reading it for awhile but I just joined. I have read alot of the topics but I still have some questions. My car is a '99 GT with 82,000 miles and some basic mods like flowmasters, BBK CAI, and a Hypertech tune. I am gettin ready to dump about $2,000 or so in the motor so I can stomp some Hondas and maybe an LS-1. I am looking to do a 75 mm throttle body and intake plenum, a typhoon intake, march underdrive pulleys, flowtech long tubes and shorty x-pipe, and some new accel coil on plugs. I am hopin this should get a noticeable amount of power but I was hopin for some sugestions as to where this would land me in power and maybe some other mods to do.

the only things in that list that will give you significant gains will be the lt's and midpipe, the intake stuff wont help you that much unless you have head/cam work.

so I would suggest getting the LT's and midpipe, and then get yourself some COMP 262 cams. With install, that should put you about $2000.

I had thought about cams but I didnt know if the effort would pay off with a car that had that many miles on it. Also I work at a shop so install will be free on whatever I decide to do. I forgot to mention I am also putting in some 3.73 gears to get it off the line quicker.

nice.... i love my 3.73's.

thats very convenient that you work at a shop. if you can get free install, get yourself a set of cams and heads and lt's and x-pipe and you should be putting down like 280 rwhp with a good tune.

So is the Tyhpoon intake manifold a good idea or a waste of time as well. From what i have read it is a very cost effective upgrade.

It's not worth the money for the slight power increase, save that extra cash for a supercharger upgrade down the road or pop a nitrous kit on it with the cash

Gotta agree with the Steeda man. I would change the March pullies to Steeda pullies because March pullies are piggyback style. If you already have Flows I would go with a O/R H pipe or a prochamber instead of an X pipe. ( Here is a pretty good deal on LT headers and a H pipe) The cam work with the full exhaust combined with your new tune should net you some good gains.

Throw in those 3.73's... Finish your exhaust off with some LT's and a midpipe... throw that hypertech crap away and get a SCT or Diablo tuner.. Go with a set of STEEDA pulleys.. Throw in the comp 262 cams. And find yourself a good dyno tuner (i would base what tuner you buy off which dyno place you are going to and what they use, that way you dont waste money). That should put you around 2K maybe a little less, and you will notice a nice gain.

BTW- dont bother with the typhoon intake for now.. the stock one will hold a decent amount of power. To much money for not enough gain.. wait tell you need it.

Sound good, but if you have Flows they sound best with a H or a pro chamber mid pipe. Just my $0.02

Patriot heads are not the greatest! But if thats all you want to spend then go for it! Personally i would go with some VT heads or Livernois heads but not Patriot performance they had problems with vavles!

the headers and x pipe is a good idea.
the typhoon intake is junk, dont buy it.
the tb and plenum will allow your car to breath to redline and make good powa!!!
pulleys, dont buy march. they are piggy back style. do steeda, saleen, motoblue, ect.
some gears and a good dynotune will be another thing i would look into.
