Wal-Mart engine repair killed my engine...

Here's the story. So my threads in my head were shot. So I put a thread insert in and things were fine. When the the plug blew out i got chunks of it in the cylinder and that scratched it up pretty good causing me to lose compression. My baby drinks oil fairly quick so i went to wal-mart to grab a quart of oil and i saw this stuff called engine repair. It says its used to restore copression and horsepower and all that happy junk. So i was like what the heck, ill try it. Its a two part formula and the one half was as thick as molasses (<-spelling?) So i put it in, didnt really notice anything but it said it take 100 miles to break in. So i drove from my girlfriends back to my house, then back to her house the next day (Its about 52 miles or so from me to her) and about a half mile to go, my oil pressure just drops and i freaked and went to panic mode and didnt use my common sense and shut the engine off, I just stared and watched the pressure gauge fluctuate and immediately my engine shuts off and i try to bumstart going 40mph and in like 3rd gear. Tires just locked up and i was like oh crap. So i got it pulled to her house and we tried crankin it, and well...its seized. So... do you think that "engine repair" clogged up my oil pump causing me to seize up? or could it have been somethin else? someone told that mustangs oil pumps are infamouse of going out, but i only heard that from one person and never heard it anywhere else. Now i gotta find a new long block.

Our oil ports in our heads are pretty small, it might not have had enough time to circulate due to the THICK repair stuff you put in it. Just my opinion.

I got a 26k mile motor out of a 01 Grand marquis for $400. It would be a romeo, which isn't a huge deal. car-parts.com

you can buy a early model cobra Teskid block on ebay for 400.00. It comes with pistons and crank. You can swap your heads and intake over and as a bonus you will have a higher compression ratio using the cobra block!!!!

Do you know what parts i would need? Cause i have the 8 bolt windsor and teskids are 6 bolt crankshafts and i was just thinking about what all i would need to do the swap. If you know anything off hand or anythreads about it, the help would be appreciated because now im intrested in doing this budget swap and ive been without my stang for about 5 months now and it sucks. If i can get all the parts i can get it tuned no problem cause im at wyotech now and im taking high performance soon and the instructor is a crazy good tuner and ill have unlimited dyno passes =)

all cobra motors run a 8 bolt crank this includes mach 1's. this means your stock flywheel will work. you will need a timing cover if it does not come with one. full gasket kit which you can buy them that includes head bolts as well. cobra oil pump which is about 100 dollars. pick up tube. your heads rebuilt which runs about 300 depending on what they do. keep your motor cause your going to probably need to re-use your water pump, rear main cover, oil pan, oil/water neck, chains, guides, tensoners, and trigger wheel

That blows. How many miles on it? And good luck with the new engine.

Stuff like this is why I just laugh it off when my neighbor tells me that the recommend oil is too thin, just agree, and let him think he knows best.

Yessir, Shell Rotella 40 weight is the SH!T.

I'm doing pretty good with my RP 5W20 and Ford Motorcraft filter, though. Should have bought oil that's as thick as Elmer's glue.

Ughh Rotella is actually the best break in stuff for any motor. I broke my 1200hp motor in with 15W-40 Rotella and i still had 90PSI of oil pressure.

So you think the "Engine Repair" caused your motor to blow? Not the pieces of metal that got sucked into your cylinders when your spark plug blew out? It just took enough time to cause enough damage and detonated.

Never said it wasn't good for anything. The heavy weight oils typically are awesome when it comes to a break in period. Just not for every day use..

Oddly enough, the product you speak of is sold at most auto parts stores. I've used it in old pushrod motors with decent success....but imho its a bit thick for 4.6 oil pumps. Its not no smoke thick, but its atleast as thick as say, stp oil treatment.

I've never heard of a 2-part oil additive, but I have seen a 2-part treatment repair for head gaskets & cracked heads/blocks. If you can find a good used non-PI short block (from a Stang, Crown Vic, Marquis, etc.) you can use your PI heads and end up w/higher compression as well. May also consider a 5.4 swap!!!
