Hood Insulation

I was thinking about removing my hood insulation cause it rides on my supercharger and makes it look like crap. Are there any consequences to this solution? I also heard it makes the engine bay run cooler? Is that true?

How does the sun shine from both sides of the hood?

Heh, I've heard that it could ruin the paint on the hood from the heat of the engine... is that true?

Nah take it off, mine never had it and no problems. Then take your scoop off, cut a hole in the hood under where the scoop sits, smaller than the size of the scoop, then bore (drill) out all of the little circles on the grill insert then replace scoop, makes the scoop somewhat functional

Might try this as a replacement to wearing hood insulation.

I have seen this happen.... if i was you i would cut out the section that is rubbing.. so its still absorbing some of the heat. or you can take it off and replace it with something thiner.

BTW- lil666 if his stock is rubbing there is no way that a 1/2 think matt isnt going to rub.

I wasn't sure if it was the rubbing he was concerned about or the crap that the insulation left on the sc. i know old insulation can leave little crap and make stuff look like shite. That stuff would be cleaner, but your right, it's probably a bit thicker than stock.

That's why I'm a newb.
