biggest tire on a stock 17


heys guys, i want to know whats the biggest size tire i can put on my stock 17 rims?, they are 245 45 r17

that is the biggest I would go! You might beable to go witha 255 or a 265 but I dont know if they make those lol

it is a debateable question! 17*8 are factory wheels and well 275/40/17 will fit the tire shops around here will not mount a 25 on an 8 in wide tire!

i have ran a 275 on my car for 3 years without a problem. they mount, fit, and ride just fine. most guys on here that are running stock wheels are on a 275.

if i am able to put a 275 tire on a stock 17, do i have to do a tune ? and can the stock rear axle and stock gears handle that width when i launch hard?

yea the rear end will hold up just fine.

just don't do high rpm launches on Drag radials all the time.

i was wondering the same exact thing!!! i guessed a 285/40/17 but now i know to go with a 275/40/17 ill move my newer 255/45/17 to the front

I got 285/40/17 and they are greatand they go all the way up to 315 but thats pushing it

^I think you can go up to a 295. My buddy tried that on his Cobra wheels he has and it looked good, but you could still see the tires bubble out from the lip a bit.
