That Whippled Cobra caught traction pretty much right away. Pretty impressive

I agree that the NT05s won't hold their own against any drag radial.

Earlier in this thread you did mention that the Nitto drag radials weren't on the level of either of the MTs.

I really don't want to get into a pissing match over it because I don't really care. Like I tried to tell you earlier we are all entitled to our opinions. Although you seem to be taking it a little more personal than some but maybe I'm reading it wrong.

im not trying to be a dick on this topic, i have run only 1 set of nitto's in my life and i liked them, the 555 dr's treated me great on the street and were afordable. people who like to do road handling seem to like the nt05r's and the standard nt05's are supposed to be ok for the track. i spent most of my track days on et streets and now im trying hooser drag slicks this year. as it goes for types of tires for types of aplications there really is a good middle ground with drag radials but running a tire for what it is intended for will always make the best results

Here are my regular NT05s...

how do you like those? and where you got them from?

I'm not even sure you can call the 555r a true drag radial but they did last me 10,000 miles. Not enough traction for me though even in 315s. Thinking about the M&h racemasters in 325s and 28 inches tall for the street but they are really expensive. Might just go with the 315 MT street radials because they have proven themselves time and time again as well as the largest cross section width of similar tires in similar sizes.

I only have 200 miles on them. So far I like them. To compare, the rear nto5's new have the same traction as used up 555 drag radials. Overall very capable tires for the street. Will get to try autox on them next weekend.

EDIT: got them from Discout Tire

The NT05s aren't very good for the track. They are just merely a nice daily driver tire. I've got them on my car and wouldn't even waste my time at the track with them.

That's weird. How cold was it? I had NT555R 305/35/20s on my car and it would dead hook on the street with 463 rwhp.

Is your car an auto? 1st gear is useless to me on the street with the 555r's and the track for that matter. Best I could get out of them was 1.9 60 ft.
