Transmission 10-26 Spline Input Conversion


I've got a lot miles on my original clutch. Willy Mo (T-3650) broke his input shaft on a second to third shift running MT Streets. Members have posted that they've seen it before (none posted that it happened to them). How prevalent is this problem for the T-45 transmission?

I have found two suppliers of 26 spline input shafts: ProMotion and Bob Hanlon. ProMotion will ship one for $469 + shipping. There is a core charge so they want the old one back. Bob Hanlon will send one for $350 (didn't discuss shipping) but you have to send your old input shaft to them first to have it inspected before they will send the new one you. They estimate 3 weeks.

In talking to Bob Hanlon's tech support they really recommend a complete rebuild . They said the 3/4 fork in the T-45 needs to be strengthened, etc. Is this also a big problem? The rebuild is $1650 for the 26 spline input shaft and $1090 for the 10 spline.

They said that with a 10 spline input the transmission will hold up to around 400 rwhp. With the 26 spline input it will hold up to 600 rwhp. If I do this I'll probably go with ProMotion because I don't want my car down for 3-4 weeks. But, I'm wondering about the 3/4 fork. My transmission is in perfect shape. It doesn't need to be rebuilt and I'm not sure I will need to since I have sworn to never, ever power shift a daily driver again. Any thoughts on this will be appreciated.
