semi urgent: anyone have a clue what this is?

found it behind my dash while i was trying to figure out why my a/c is stuck on hot only. It is a cable of some kind. I don't have a clue what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It is getting hot here in florida and starting to rain. No a/c + humid rainy weather = foggy windows

it goes to the back of your hvac controls. Pull that bezel off and unbolt the hvac controls and you will see where it goes. I believe it goes on the temp selector
