How long will this take?
Tomorrow my dad and I might attempt to replace my lower ball joints and outer tie rods in the front. How long do you think it would take two people who have never done it before to do it in a driveway on jack stands? Also, what special tools will be needed? I know I need something to press the ball joints out and in. Is there something i can rent at autozone or advanced for that? Thanks guys

A few hours, depends on the amount of time spent staring and thinking what to do next. I don't think you can rent anything from those places (at least not around me). Basic tools should be able to do the job. Mallet, clamps etc.

hey, i did this last year with some new steeda balljoints and adj tie rod ends. it should take you a couple of hours. the tie rods are very straight forward, the balljoints arent bad either, the problem i had was the one side was super stubborn and would not come out! we ended up torching it off. all you really need are the basic tools. a balljoint press tool kit will make it a lot easier. Over here, i just went to a local "Partsource" store which is equivalent to an autozone, and was able to rent the toolkit out. best part it was free, just needed to make a refundable insurance deposit on it.
Goodluck! i saw a noticeable difference with my new setup. |

Autozone rents the balljoint press and the tierod end forks.
Taking your time should be no more than 2 hours per wheel.
