My fuel mileage staid about the same, 20-22 mpg. You shouldn't need a tuner for more acceleration. The engine will run the same, the gears just get you into your power band faster.

But a tuner will give you 10-20 hp depending on what other mods you have.

You will get more power and in turn get more acceleration. but not as much from the tuner as you will from the gears.

And yes, If you don't have your cars speedo recalibrated your mileage readings will read more then what your are really going. I'd go for the tuner b/c you can change things when you want. With a chip you would need a new chip to change things like gears, tire sizes. and any other little things.

There are a few ways you can go about this.. getting a tuner is the best! But you can get gears with a speed cal it will be cheaper, but the speed cal wont help anything else.. You can get the gears and after they are installed, a ford dealership can hook up there computer and change the gears..
Like they said above if you don't get it calibrated it will mess with your mileage. And your speedo will be off.
I would suggest if you are getting gears get a tuner (diablo or xcal2) that way you get a little more HP and you can adjust the gearing yourself. Good Luck.

americanmuscle.com has a gear/tuner combo pack you can get and save a few bucks.. Yes it will fix your speedo.. and mileage.. and give you some more power.. And as long as you can follow directions you can do it yourself.
