Got about $500 to spend!!

I'm trying to decide between a Mac O/R H pipe and a JLT Cold air intake or the midpipe and springs. What do you guys think?

Right now I have Flowmaster 40's, a Steeda Tri Ax shortshifter, 3.73 gears and my air silencer has been removed.......along with some brake and cosmetic upgrades.

Honestly, how much power will I get with an H pipe? I'm not worried about a loss of low end torque. I just want the car to pull harder when I need it and that seems to be at the higher RPM range. Any feedback would be great!!

I'd say the midpipe and CAI.

You won't gain a great deal with the midpipe, maybe around 8 or 10 tq at the most I'm guessing. But, the sound will be awesome, and you will pick up a noticable bit of power. An X-pipe will give more tq than an h pipe, but it sounds different.

Hey throwedoff, you have the Flowmaster 40's and a Mac X. Would you happen to have a sound clip of that setup? I want the most power I can get but I like the sound of the H. Just wondering what the X would sound like with the FM.[/quote]

I sure do...

This one:

And also this one, but this one sounds different than in person because the car is right up on the mic (mic distortion), so that isn't an accurate sound of it... Once I drive off, you get a more accurate sound:

I love the sound of the X-pipe, but at a (very small) certain RPM range, the car has somewhat of a 'glasspack' sound. This still doesn't sound bad, just different. I have gotten nothing but compliments on the sound, and it is extremely loud. It is not overly loud at idle, and I can still easily carry a conversation with the windows down at any RPM as long as I am not flooring it, but at WOT, it screams extremely loud.

Yeah X pipes definitely have a unique sound which is totally different from H pipes. If you don't care for the higher pitched raspier sound then an x pipe isn't for you.

The car does sound quite a bit different in person, but it's definitely higher pitched and raspier than an H.

Damn, your car sounds very nice!!!! These sound clips have me thinking about the O/R X. Some people want nothing but power, some want style......I want both!! I like the sound of the X. Thanks for the clips.

No problem, glad to hear that you like the sound. The x definitely gives a nice combination of power and sound (in my opinion, but lots of people don't like the x pipe sound). The difference in power isn't going to be extreme between an X and a H, maybe 2-3hp at the most, but if you like the sound of the X then there isn't really any reason to not go with it.

One cool site which I found that has lots of sound clips and which was instrumental in me making my decision between X and H pipe was http://www.mustangexhaust.com/forums...ps.php?catid=5

Oh also, you could get an o/r x pipe and JLT CAI for right under $400 on ebay it looks like, leaving you an extra $100 for your next mod.

Some guy even has a JLT CAI for sale on there right now and it's only up to $110, so you may be able to do both of these things for a little over $300.
