This maybe a dumb question, but what do the upgraded gears do for your car?? Improve 0-60 & 1/4 mile times??? If so then 4.10's would be better than 3.73's correct?? Also would 4.10's be ok for daily driving, in a semi busy area?? Just curious. Thanks.

Read the sticky about gears on the 99-04 page! It will answer all of your questions!

As far as heads, I am really leaning toward the Patriot Stage II's or pay the extra $$$$$ and go with VT's...... still debating. I guess I am waiting it out to see if the Patriots are going to hold up or if people start complaining about them

why do you have to give a couple 100 miles before you get on them?? My mechanic told me to drive around on them for 30 minutes, let them cool down, drive on them for 30 minutes, let them cool down and then take it out and try to rip the gears out of the ass end of the car.
also, check out www.flowtechinduction.com for cams and heads. they do custom work. you tell them what you are looking for and they design something to your specs. |

People have diff ways they like to break in gears... i have heard about the 30min warm up and cool down.. i dont like it cause you dont get enough miles on the gears to make sure nothing is wrong before you start launching it. If you drive for about 500 the gears are warming up and cooling down also so you get the same effect. But you need to get them checked out after first 500 miles to make sure all the backlashes are set correctly. Then you can start tearing up the road.
As far as heads and cams.. i havent gotten into it that much with our motors yet.. I just started reading a couple weeks ago. But i hear the patriots are supposed to be a good new head... and you cant beat the reputation of comp cams.. But i know there are other options out there.
