O2 sensor fitment problems

Yesterday I replaced my upstream driver's side sensor. Today, I went to replace my upstream passenger sensor.

Problem is, the Bosch sensors that EVERY auto parts store carries have about 1/2" more metal on them, and will not fit. I can not find any other brands of sensors, and can not find out how to make these fit.

The problem I am having is that when putting the sensor into my midpipe, the other end of the sensor will not clear some black metal bar which looks like it is going to the tranny. I have tried everything I can, and it just will not fit.

I have no other options available that I can see, besides going to the dealer and paying $110 for a sensor. O'Reilly auto parts told me that the dealer's sensors will be bosch also, but I don't see why their sensors would be any different than the one my car came with.

I was thinking about switching out a rear o2 with it. If my rear o2 sensors are turned off (still heated, but they don't send a signal to the computer from what I understand), would I have a problem if I put one of my faulty upstream sensors in it's place?

Oh duh, the rear o2 sensors aren't compatible with the fronts, so I can't take a rear off and swap it.

I've been trying to cram this pos Bosch upstream o2 into place for the last 45 minutes now with no luck, what do I do?

Nevermind guys, just went and got one at the dealer (RAPE) price of $115. Fuck dealerships, seriously.

If this doesn't fix my problem, I'm gonna be super pissed that I spent $170 on 2 o2 sensors for nothing. At least Autozone will take the $55 one back if need be, the dealer won't.

That should fix you right up...

With the mileage on your car you were due for a 02 swap...

Let us know how it goes...

So far, it looks good man. Car is running perfectly, I'll keep you updated though. Thanks for all the help.

Of course once I get one problem fixed, I create another one... Just backed into a pole with a corner of my bumper and now it's dented and the paint's cracked

Will do, I think we found the problem too, thanks a ton for all the help.

I did just win the following in a car contest on YouTube sponsored by King of Cars though, so that makes me a little bit happier

-$50 Ace hardware Gift Card
-King of Cars Limited Edition Die-Cast Car
-King of Cars Sunglasses
-King of Cars Desktop Clock
-Pirelli Messenger Bag
-Pirelli Fleece Cap
-Pirelli Polo Shirt

I was hoping for the grand prize that included the $500 gift certificate... but I'll settle for this first place prize

Edit: At least I don't have to report this prize to the IRS because it's under $600 unlike the other one
