Forged internals?

So I'm planning on getting forged internals, what else would i need to get besides pistons, rods, crankshaft, camshaft, valve springs, and an aluminum block?

Forged internals includ: Crankshaft, Rods, and Pistons

Valve springs will just allow you to run a more agressive cam! (Recommended)
Cams go with a stage 2 VT or comp cam. (A must if you have the car apart anyway, because of the power gains for the price)
Aluminum block will just take weight off of your front end. Your stock block that you have now will work well and hold a lot of HP. (Unless building a drag car, I would save your money and buy some stage 2 Ported and Polished VT heads!)

If you have never done it before, very hard to do!

You will need specialized tools and it will take a lot of patients.

You say that you are not very mechanically inclined, so just for that fact I would let somebody do this install in your case. Sure you can try and tackle it, but you will need some serious time, and some serious patients. Keep on asking the questions!

well I have never built an engine of this size! The biggest I have done is a goped engine where I have had it completely apart! But you can buy a few books on it and read all that you can and you will probably be able to tackle it! I dont know if anybody will check it out for you though!

it would be a pretty big job seeing how you have to tear the motor completly down. matts right if youve never done it before dont try it by yourself. if you get this you will prob have to buy a gasket kit aswell.

yeah and you will need to calculate new Compression ratio and keep it low if you want to run large amounts of boost! You will need to talk to an engine builder! contact www.vtengines.com they will help you out and answer all of your questions!

There is also a extremely detailed tear down and rebuild Manual for your year GT (not the haynes manual), but a 3000 page+ manual that shows you EVERYTHING, there hard to find and are pretty expensive but the knowledge it gives you is priceless!

If your not afraid to take your engine apart its really not that hard. If you have a good manual, and can follow directions you should be good, and can learn alot.

I did my first engine the same way, just pulled it out and tore it down. You learn alot, and its more rewarding in the long run b/c you can say, 'I build that'. Just take your time, don't rush through it, and ask if you have any problems. IMO the only way to learn is to do it yourself!

Well it really depends on what you want the car to be. And I agree that you will learn so much from doing the build your self, and if you are going to go with forged internals then everything in the engine gets replaced. You really should give a place like www.vtengines.com a call and they will answer any and all questions!
