first speeding ticket!

i got my first speeding ticket this morning, 4 days away from my 23rd birthday, which would have marked a 6 year clean record! I was busted for doing 63 in a 45. The saddest part is i was going to pull into a gas station to fuel up just 300 ft ahead of where i got pulled over! anyway, i'm going to try to get the points dropped in court for first time offense by offering to take traffic school or something. any suggestions are more than welcome!

P.S. radar detector is in the mail

Get a laser defuser as well. If you don't, you will wish you did.

I don't know if they have what we call Alive at 25 there. But it's a class that prevents drunk driving deaths. Search around for something like that it is a big incentive for them! It's usually like a 2 day thing and it's like 30-50 dollars.

Those are illegal no matter where you live. I know the fines for detectors are only like 150-200 dollars but the defuser I hear is like 800 dollars.

Yea but if you hide them well, then no one will find it. I have had one on every car ive owned, and never had a problem yet. Also here in NY I been pulled over with just a radar detector plenty of times, and we don't get fined for them. So I think those are a state to state law ordeal.

The detectors are yes but diffusers are going to be illegal anywher but they are easier to hide since you dont need to actually see or hear them all they do for you is diffuse the laser.

Good point though.

Yea that's what i'm saying, difuser's are illegal, but as long as you hide it well like I always have, then you should be fine. Also a note to redponygt, i'm not sure what detector you bought, but I found the K-40's to be the best, plus they guarentee no tickets, or they pay for the tickets.

lol, it's impossible to see a cop like a mile away when you're just flying down the road and then once you realize it's a cop it's too late you're fucked
I haven't had any speeding tickets though they just end up fucking me with the seat belt tickets, oh well better than getting points and a ticket.

heh +1 on what MeZ said...ive gotten a few speeding tickets and 1 reckless driving which i was luckily able to get down to just a Improper Traffic Violation. ever since that first reckless ive been very careful and so far its been paying off...2 years now without any type of traffic or safety violation. (Even though once in a while i just floor it balls to the wall )

But anyways, back to the subject...i would recommend the driving class indefinitely...whatever makes the judge happy...(even though here in the county of fairfax where i live they royally ass rape you for any type of speeding ticket...). GL bro you should be able to get off that ticket if the judge aint in a bad mood

Ok about the laser difuser.. If you are solo on a road and he is trying to clock you and his gear comes back with a error.. your F* he has the right to search your car for that (probable cause), And the fine for it is insane cause you pay a county fine and fed fine. IMO dont do it.

thanks for all the comments. I'm not a chronic speeder, i just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, and at the wrong speed! plus it was karma too...my mom had told me just on sunday that you have gone almost 6 years with no tickets...and then bam, 2 days later my first! I ordered an escort passport 8500 x50 cuz i got a great hook up on one. I would have gotten the valentine 1 (which i heard is much better) but couldn't afford a $500 detector plus the speeding fine (i'm hoping to get an increased fine but drop the 4 points!) The laser diffusers sound really great but like others said, if you are the only one on the road, you can get screwed. There is one company called Laser Park Pro which is cleverly a front/rear parking sensor that actually diffuses laser as well. However, no one ever buys them for the assistance in parking! So if the cop ever pulls you over, you just tell him that it was your parking sensor that might have caused the problem :wink But they are manufactured in europe and a front/rear system costs way more than a valentine 1. So to get the best radar/laser protection would end up costing well over $1000. Not exactly a priority for me right now! When I buy a porsche someday, then I will look into this stuff

Speeding tickets are no fun, I got my first one not too long ago, driving my 00GT. Was 2AM, flying down I64 West.

77 in a 60. I didn't realize it went from 65 tto 60.

I was very close to wreckless.

You guys are good. I got my first ticket 13 years ago. LOL Hell, my license was suspended like a years and revoked for three. I drove the entire time. In NYS tickets are just a form of revenue here. They would rather give you the higher fine with less/no points because they want the money. With the laser defuser if you're the only one on the road you are not f*cked. If you wired it through your glove box and keep it locked they CANNOT search it. The most they can do is call in a drug sniffing dog which will get them nothing. (Unless you have drugs. LOL) All you have to do is refuse them permission to search your vehicle.

i'm hoping the nj courts want more revenue too! right now the fine is $105, but i'm willing to pay much more to drop 4 points!

What your saying isn't alway's true, especially here in N.y. as well as in P.A., Cops can not search your car without a warrant. And besides that, if you have a good quality Radar detector, then your all set. I have yet to hear anyone around here say they got a ticket while using a good Detector & defuser set-up, and iv'e worked in plenty of electronic shops, that sell that kinda stuff, and not one person iv'e asked in the past has gotten a ticket. And also the thing is people, a defuser is great to have, but you definatly want a good quality detector with it. If you don't, then you won't be warned to slow down, and if your going fast enough, they will be able to just look up at your car and know that your speeding, and no detector means no warning because the defuser doesn't give you one incase you didn't know.
