2.62 pulley? Help
Went out to mess with this blower just a second ago and looked at the pulley to see what size it was. Got the part number off of it and it comes up as a 6 rib pulley and a 2.62.
Vortech 2A036-262 Vortech Supercharger Accessories 1. I thought I needed an 8 rib pulley for my car? 2. Where will this put me as far as boost and horsepower goes? I don't have cams or anything and am looking to hit right around 400... More info on the setup is a greddy intercooler, blowoff valve, blow through Maf, and will be getting an afm power pipe...

I don't know what blower you have, so it's hard to say really. If you are running a S-trim that pulley is probably going to be too much for the blower and you'll end up over spinning the blower which puts a lot of undue stress on seals. You'll end up sending it off for a rebuild. Here's a link for the impeller speeds. Just type in your info.
Support | Vortech Superchargers As far as the pulley itself it will be a 6 rib pulley unless you upgrade all your pullies to 8 rib. Since you are on a stock engine (I'm guessing) you really won't need to switch to an 8 rib setup if you only want to get around 400. |

Odds are the head unit the op has is a v1 s trim which has a low step ratio. Even still that pulley is way to small and you will probably suffer from belt slip. If you have a v1 with an ic and stock motor I would say with a standard cx 3 core go no smaller than a 3.0

Sorry it's an v1 that I'm upgrading to an SI trim next week.
Typed in the info and I got 51354.96 for the impeller speed...

That is almost max turn out of a v1 so if it is a si trim you will put down about 18# of boost threw a ic. If your on stock bottom end with a ic and a v1 si trim I would use a 3.125 pulley

Is it possible to have it pullied at a 2.62 and tuned down so I would be okay on a stock bottom end? Or is the only way to do that through different sized pullies?

Your going to need a new pulley you can't tune out the 18# of boost it will make. A 6 rib 3.125 pulley is 70 dollars and wont slip.

Only way to change boost is with pulleys. Then again, I think MM&FF had an article that they used a waste gate setup and ran the smaller pulley and had two boost settings, but the down side is your always spinning the blower to the max. You really need to go with a bigger pulley.

It depends on the ic you use. It could restrict your boost down to 9# or a more efficent ic may make 12#

I think Vortech's website states that for every pulley change it's a .5-1# of boost. I don't recall for sure. I know when I had a V2 SQ-Trim it had a stock 3.6 pulley and at non-intercooled it threw down 8.4 #s of boost I believe and it made 360 rwhp IIRC. You have an intercooler and I believe that if you go with the 3.125 pulley you should see 10#s of boost and that's going to get you real close if not right at 400hp.

Good to know. I don't know much about the ic except that it is made by greddy. Here is a picture if anyone can tell. There is also a wastegate in there too. I'm trying to learn as much as possible about what I'm running so anything said or any advice is only going to help me.

You won't be using a waste gate.

Holy crap those pipes are crush bent exhaust pipe. Not even sure what to say about the reduced looking pipe and the flaired end. Your ic ia also real small. Probably the reason your blower had such a small pulley on it.

Honestly, it looks like someone tried to throw in some pipes along with the intercooler that was meant for a different car and sold the blower and bracket along with it.

Good news is a cx racing 31x12x3 can be had off ebay for about 120 dollars and the ic pipe only cost 70-100 dollars.
