Exhaust: Magnaflow vs. Magnapacks
I'm planning on getting a magnaflow exhaust kit in the next month or so on a 03' GT. I've heard that apparently the magnaflow #15671 catback kit gets better hp gains, but is substantially quieter than the Magnapack #15673 kit. Is any of this true? If so what is the loss between the two kits?

I Have the 15673 Magnapacks. I don't think The 15671 would get better hp gains seeming how the 73's are a straight shot through........

I have the magnaflows and like them. Ask ChrisJ how they sound. But the 1/2 hp difference (if any) that you would see isn't worth it. The question is do you want something that is going to be loud all the time or just when you get on it?

the guy asked a simple question, no need to be an ass.
and it's mufflers, not muffelers and you're talking about, not yout talking about. |

I have the magnapacks and I love them. The HP difference between the two is minimal, but the 15673 kit is definitly louder. The 15673 is a resinator type exhaut, so it is built to be loud and deep. The other magnflows are a chambered exhaust. Contrary to a previous staement the packs aren't loud all the time. I thought they were when I bought them because that is what I wanted, but if you are cruising at a even speed they are quieter than you would think because then you get on the gas they are quite loud.

I have the regular Magnaflow 15671 and it's quiet at idle and normal driving, but growls when you get on it. I do have drone a 2k RPM but I have a an 03 Vert and the vert amplifies everything. For the other guy, I thought both Magnaflows were "straight through" designs and NOT chambered? I mean, I know the Magnapacks are a straight line in and out (you can look right through them) where the Magnaflows are offset, but I don't think the Magnaflows have chambers in them like say Flowmasters. I could be wrong though. |

From what my local exhaust man told me magnaflows are not chambered or baffled they have a straight through design but are packed with sound deadning fiberglass which over time breaks loose and causes flow problems I ran magnaflows on my car and loved them they are not as loud as flowmasters but sound much better in my opinion im currently in process of getting the Bassani stainless catback I want full Bassani exhaust ive heard bassani mufflers on mustangs before and to me they sound just like borla which are a little quiter than flows but nice and deep.

gee thanks for the internet english lesson still doesnt change the fact that debating hp differences between aftermarket mufflers is pointless, go ahead and earn that 1/2 a hp

Get a good radar detector and don't drive fast when you are the only car on the road. The drone is mostly a V8 thing because the Hemi guys and Vette fans complain as well. The ricers drone at all speeds so for them it's all drone

First off, thanks for backing me up (GTsetGO). Second, I was just asking for a simple comparison. Thankyou to all who answered without sarcasm. As for the guy who is questioning my post (banned) and saying that "if your worried about the hp differences between muffelers.... then you dont know what yout talking about". What do you know about my intentions? This is a forum where real Mustang people ask questions so we can improve the quality of our rides. If you have a problem with me or anyone else trying to gain a few extra ponies...you know what you can do. Plus, I don't think anyone who could mispell "mufflers" has any credibility on this subject.[/quote]

Based on what I've been hearing I think that I'm gonna go with the Magnapacks. I let you all know what I think of them when I get them on. Thanks again guys.

Don't sweat the spelling. I can't spell either and this is not an English class. Your questions are good ones and this thread will help others down the road looking for information. Make sure to post back your findings! |

Not to steal this thread, but I got a few questions. What exactly is drone, because i'm wondering if you mean the sound drones out and gets quiet??? Or does it get loud??? Just curious. Also what is louder & deeper, Magnapacks??? or Flowmaster Super 40's or 44's???

The drone is a vibration that just seems to resonate throughout the whole car. as for the louder/deeper question, i don't know that one
