This past weekend I made my first custom part for my mustang. It is a home made seat bracket to allow my seat to sit several inches further back and about 3 inches lower which is nice because I am 6'6" and head and leg room was a bit of an issue. Here are a few pics of the bracket and how it sits in the ride.

The bracket is made from flat bar that I had laying around. It was approximately 3/8" x 2" that I bent by hand using a vice to match the contour of the floor pan and the seat is bolted directly to the bracket I made. There is no seat track and the seat does not move. That is just where it sits and that is fine by me since I'm the only one that drives the car. Eliminating the seat bracket is what lowered the seat so much because the seat is practically sitting on the floor.

Props

I had my seat slides cut down for the exact same reason. I don't have quite the issue with leg room, as I am tall, but more in my torso. Head room was my issue and once I got my slides cut down, the faux hood scoop was in my way and had to buy a new hood :/

Thanks for all the compliments. This is by far the best thing I could have done to the car. Before I had my seat leaned pretty far back to allow for head room and I was still looking out the very top of the windshield and now my seat is a lot more upright and I'm looking out the middle of the windshield. I also eliminated a lot of weight from the power seat which is always a plus.

Yea the driver seat weighs sooooo much its rediculous. Its cool, but I never really use the lower back support thing, or angle it to be honest. I should just sell all 4 of my Mach seats, buy some Corbeau GTS II's and do a rear seat delete.

i did that when i installed my racing seats but i built the cage out of angle iron. works perfectly and theres a bar for a 5 point harness you can buy that fits perfectly where the front 2 bolts are left showing not works great!

I feel your pain! I'm 6'7" and had to mod my seat too. I dropped mine about 3" and moved it back about 3" also, but kept the sliders. I can fit comfortably with a helmet on. I have a pair of Bride racing seats I'm getting ready to install now, probably gonna move them back as far as possible. It's amazing how much of a difference that makes. Good job OP.

Thanks for compliments. I just realized today that my seat is not sitting level. I can't feel it when I'm sitting in the seat but when I look at it from the front of the car I can see that it is not straight. One of these days I'll fix it but its not on the top of my to do list.
