STICKY ACCELERATOR

MY ACCELERATOR HAS BEEN STICKING RECENTLY, IT'S HARD TO EXPLAIN BUT I WILL DO THE BEST I POSSIBLY CAN. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS FULLY OUT AND I PULL OFF IN FIRST THE ACCELERATOR WANTS TO STICK IN THE FULLY OUT POSITION CAUSING ME TO USE MORE FORCE THAN NORMAL WHICH CAUSES THE RPM TO GO HIGHER WHICH THEN CAUSES ME TO HAVE TO FEATHER IT AND PLAY WITH IT A LITTLE BIT. THE STICK ISN'T JUST IN FIRST, IT'S THROUGH ALL THE GEARS BUT EASIER TO TELL IN 1ST AND 2ND. I'VE ALSO NOTICED THAT IF I PULL MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR JUST ENOUGH FOR THE RPM TO STAY AT IDLE AND THEN TAKE OFF (OR SHIFT) THEN IT DOESN'T STICK, IT'S JUST THE LAST 1 OR 2 CM. THAT KILL ME. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED AND IS THIS SOMETHING THAT I SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIX MYSELF??

I just dealt with this today on my GT. I bought/installed a new Pro Products plenum and a used BBK 70mm TB about 2 weeks ago, and noticed the throttle was sticking going from closed to open -- just sticking a little bit, but enough to be annoying. Took it off today, cleaned it out with some rubbing alcohol (there was a line of carbon build-up right where the butterfly valve closes in the TB), and brought the set screw out a little bit so the butterfly valve wouldn't close quite as far (maybe a half-turn on the screw, nothing drastic) and it's not sticking anymore.

And when I say I just dealt with this today, I mean my car was literally acting exactly the way you described yours is acting, sticking when I get on the throttle from idle -- it's gotta be sticky build-up in there man.

No prob man. Glad it was a quick fix. Now I wonder if BBK TB's have more of a tendency to stick than other TB's..

+1, if you're going to get an aftermarket tb/plenum... accufab is the way to go.
