Glovebox Mod

Hi gents,

I did a glove box mod thing. I got tired of having to open my glovebox to open the trunk. So I put the push button on the dash. Here is a pic.

I just ran the push button around the dash frame. I had to drill out the black dash button.

I wish Ford had done this on from the factory. Because we have 2 dummy buttons next to the shifter.

I guess those dummy switches are in certain year mustangs bc the three burrons behind my shifter is rear defrost, traction control, and fog light.

Oh ok. No that is a mod I did. I have the V6 version which left me with 2 free buttons. The GT's, Mach 1's and Cobra's may not be able to do it.

Very good idea! Those buttons have been in the glove box since the '60's. I remember when a remote trunk release was a "luxury" option. I imagine the reason they are in the glove box is for security reasons. I like the dash location idea, but if you have small kids or a dumb-ass drunk friend with you, it may create a problem.
I used to have a Saab 900S that had two options I wish all cars had. There was an outside trunk release handle that was hidden up under the rear license plate light frame. You could open the trunk from the outside just by walking up & squeezing the handle. However, when you locked the car doors via the electric locks or with a key from the outside, the trunk would lock as well. Basically, the trunk lid was like another door.

The reason they put it in the glove box is so you can lock the glove box. Then no one can get into your trunk.
