Is my clutch adjusted properly?

I installed a firewall adjuster, adjustable cable, a long with a steeda double hook quadrant, my clutch likes to click one time everytime I push it down and/or let it out. Anybody have any idea why?
When I adjust the clutch so that it engages close to the floor the noise isn't as bad (so it seems) but is it bad for me to have it adjusted that close to the floor with so much slop at the end of the pedal? When I adjust it this way, it goes into gear and everything much smoother than when it was pretty much all the way out. I could barely get it into gear at times or it made it hard to downshift.
I know it feels a lot sloppier and I know I could fix that with the pedal height adjuster. Just wanted to fix it the best I could with what I already have.
I just feel like having it adjusted that close to the floor might put extra wear on the clutch/syncros?

Use the stock cable. Just take off the prongs, and the black rubber piece that would go into the firewall adjuster. Then adjust it to the firewall adjuster is turned all the way in, then go underneathe and put the cable on the fork, then turn the firewall adjuster out til the TOB is touching the fingers on the pressure plate.

My stocker was frozen.
I think I really need to get under it and mess with it again. This crap is frustrating and the clicking is irritating. I wish I knew what it was.

Okay so for that clutch do this:

Disconnect the cable from the clutch fork and quadrant.
Turn the firewall adjuster all the way in
Put the clutch cable on the quadrant
Put the clutch cable on the clutch fork
Tighten it so the TOB is about 1/4" away from the fingers on the pressure plate
Turn the firewall adjuster out (counter clockwise) til theres no free play in the pedal
Then pull up on the clutch cable alittle bit at the firewall adjuster
Maker sure theres NO free play in the pedal, otherwise itll come out of adjustment and be hard to get it in gear.

Once the cable stretches alittle bit, there will be some free play, then just turn the firewall adjuster OUT to make up for the adjustment.

No problem man. I fought with the adjustment for a while. The car would always get out of adjustment after a track pass, and it was a pain in the ass. I think stal kind of helped me out with it, but this way I do it, I havent had to adjust it at all since I did it, and that was like 3 months ago and 2 nights at the track. And countless WOT hits.

Btw, you want the clutch to disengage at the top of the pedal. The closer it disengages to the floor, means the TOB is going further til it hits the fingers on the pressure plate to engage. The closer it is to the top of the peddle, it is going less distance, and fully disengaging. But you dont want it so tight where its riding the clutch while driving.

Clicking is probably from the clutch quadrant. It should be sitting all the way to the left so it pulls the cable in straight through the firewall.

You can do some tweaking. Just make sure you tighten the TOB so its tohcung the fingers. Then make the adjustment at the firewall adjuster. Have the firewall adjuster turned all the way in before you have tighten the cable underneathe the car.

mine would click too at first. it was the sound of the cable tightening up and popping at the firewall adjuster.. i just tightened it and it went away

It clicks from down in the tranny. I think it is probably my clutch. Oh well.

Mine let out far from the floor when stock. I assume that's not right... Is your clutch really stiff?

It should not let out close to the floor. It would be a good idea to do this to make it engage higher than that, with one of your hands, pull the clutch pedal all the way up for one second and release it. What that does is to adjust the stock clutch quadrant. Give it a try.

yes it is pretty stiff. i have done this before after reading it in the owners manual. didnt change anything. clutches engages fine and doesnt slip. no noises or anything so maybe ill invest in the quadrant.

If the pedal is real stiff try changing the cable with another oem cable. Should fix the issue man.

i thought that these mustangs just had stiff clutches, before this i had a 94 gt that was stiffer than this. i might go ahead and get the adjuster kit. does steeda make the best kit? the only one i saw on AM was stack racing i believe.
