Rear Main seal

Since I have so much going on at the time I did not notice when installing the rear main seal does the seal go flush with the outside of the rea main seal casing or does it hurt for it to be recessed inside the casing? I am second guessing myself at this point, but I installed ine about 1/8 inch recesed and it looks like it will work just fine, but need some help on this one since it is so hard to get to in the future. Thanks

You don't need to rtv it. I just do it for the sake of it. Make sure you pay attention which way you install the seal. For some reason the first time I put it in my car totaly messed up and put it in backwards. Had to drop the trans the next day to flip it cause it was leaking.

You will need the 4 dowels for the heads, 2 for the trans, 2 small ones for the rear main seal housing. Also there is a small fitting behind the water pump that hooks up to the line to the heater core.

I am missing all the head dowels, I have ordered them hopefully they will be here next week so I can get this engine put together by the weekend. I have the other rear main seal dowels, but they seem like you need to hammer them in cause they are to tight to put in by hand.
